It’s been a while since I went outside with the intent to walk around and find people to think pictures of. Since moving to Los Angeles in 2019 whenever I went out with my camera I had very little expectations that I would take any pictures of people. It was mostly nature and landscapes or objects, rarely any people. I was different. If I shot people, it was usually with a telephoto lens. I use to run around NYC with a Nikon 35mm lens f2. I was shooting everything in my radius. Once I became a personal photographer my street shooting took a hit. On August 10th, probably guided by the love and support of my late grandmother, I decided that I was going to go outside the next day and every day after that and take street photos with a renewed purpose. With this series I want to document what it is like to live in the “good” neighborhood. My goal is to explore the socioeconomic dynamics between good and bad neighborhoods through photography and reexamined what it means to live in a good neighborhood.
